Andy to be cast in Iron Man 3?

Hollywood film Iron Man 3 has been scheduled to open in cinemas during the summer holidays on 3 May 2013, shooting is scheduled to start next month. With the increased importance of Chinese market, the film will have location shooting in Mainland China. The film will be financed by Marvel Studios, Walt Disney Pictures and Mainland China’s DMG Entertainment. With the financial support of the Chinese, Chinese actors will be added into the cast, in order to be on equal status with the Hollywood stars, the first pick will be Andy Lau as he has been in Asian showbiz for 30 years, this could be the chance for him to enter the Hollywood market.

It is clear that Iron Man 3 decided to collaborate with China and Andy, most importantly they are looking at the bright side of the Mainland China box office market, Andy has a high drawing power in the box office of Mainland China, Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan, Japan, Korea and other Asian countries, it also suited Andy to walk out of Asia and into Hollywood, he also stand a chance to become Hollywood’s Best Actor or Best Supporting Actor. It’s a win-win situation as there is box office guarantee and Andy could venture into Hollywood.

According to reports on NEONPUNCH website, insiders revealed that Andy’s collaboration with Iron Man 3 had yet been confirmed as no contract has been signed, but negotiation had reached the final stage in terms of negotiating the fees. Other than the original cast of Robert Downey, Jr., Gwyneth Paltrow, Scarlett Johansson, Sir Ben Kingsley and Guy Pearce will be added to be the villains. Although in the original comics, Iron Man has a Chinese villain – The Mandarin who has “10 magical rings”, but with Chinese financial backing, it might not “smear” Chinese to become a villain, thus Andy could be cast as Tony Stark’s old friend in China, using advanced technologies to assist Iron Man in fighting the villains.

Andy’s filming schedule for Iron Man 3 must also accommodate his wife giving birth as Andy will be promoted to become a father in June.
