Andy and Deanie favorites in Golden Horse Film Awards

A joint production of Bona Film Group and Focus Film Limited, Ann Hui directed A Simple Life had made its female lead Deanie Ip to win the Best Actress award in Venice Film Festival. Since the film’s return to Hong Kong, it still showed off its glamour as it will represent Hong Kong to compete for Best Foreign Language Film in the 84th Academy Awards (Oscars). The film is also nominated for Best Feature Film, Best Director, Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Original Screenplay and Best Film Editing, a total of 6 nominations in Taiwan’s 48th Golden Horse Film Awards that will be held on 26 November 2011.

With the presentation ceremony near, A Simple Life surprisingly released a 4-colunm comic of Tao Jie and Roger, titled “Roger and Tao Jie fall in love with Golden Horse Film Awards”, it has a comical content that will make one burst into laughter.

It will be a fierce contest for the Best Actor and Actress awards, currently A Simple Life’s Andy Lau and Deanie Ip are the hot favorite, there will be a big chance that both will win proud for Hong Kong.

Nominated for the Best Actress award are Deanie Ip, Shu Qi, Qin Hailu and Michelle Chen. Among the 4 actresses, the former 3 are former Best Actress winner, but Deanie who is the newly crowned Best Actress in Venice Film Festival is the favorite, she also seems to won professional film critics’ support as praises of “can’t spot that she was acting” was commented.

Whereas for the Best Actor, Andy who won the award with Infernal Affairs III will be facing fierce contest from Ge You, whereas Jump!Ashin’s Eddie Peng can be a dark horse. Andy returns to natural acting in A Simple Life, was praised throwing away his baggage as he successfully enter the inner world of the character, whereas Ge You was praised for his “magical acting” in Let The Bullets Fly.
