It has been a busy Hong Kong movie industry this year, after the Chinese New Year holidays, other than Beauty On Duty to be screened in the cinemas during the Easter Day holidays, three heavenly kings will also gathered and appeared together which is a rare sight in recent years. The three films has different selling points, from science fiction to love to explosive action.
During the Easter Day holidays, first there will be Jacky Cheung’s Crossing Hennessy and Leon Lai’s Fire of Conscience to open on 1 April. With Tang Wei also in the cast, the selling point for Crossing Hennessy is love; Fire of Conscience has a cast of Leon Lai and the gun battles by the experience Dante Lam is worth anticipating. With regards to Andy’s Future X-cops, it’s arranged to be screened on 15 April, the second slot of the Easter Day holidays, director Wong Jing add special effects and computer graphics into the film.
In Fire of Conscience, Leon took up the role of a troubled inspector, he used violent methods to uphold justice after his wife’s death. When asked if he would compared with Andy, he said: “When comes to who’s handsome, I’ll lose out because I have moustache in the film, looked terrible as I’m depressed, my world is full of hatred, my only aim is to find out who murder my wife as I did not shave nor changed my clothes.” However, Leon is very confident as he said: “I carried several dangerous stunts in the film, it’s different from the advance weapons in Future X-cops, all real knife and guns, hope it will bring a shattering experience to the audience.”
When asked about the box office collection battle, Leon replied: “The anticipation for Fire of Conscience is not solely on me, it’s also the accommodation of the director and cast.” When asked if he has the confidence to do better than Future X-cops, Leon expressed: “I don’t wish to compare, if the box office can exceed Future X-cops, even by a dollar, the whole crew will be excited as our effort is recognized.”
