The Bodyguard, starring and directed by Sammo Hung, Executive Producer Andy Lau also made a special appearance in the film revealed its poster. The poster had a light color theme on the whole which is refreshing and natural, but the face expression of main leads Sammo and Chen Pei-yan had a strong differences. Sammo had his back facing the camera and appeared depressed and lonely, his sad eyes quickly bring one into his feelings, whereas the little girl is full of smiles, mischievous and cute, which made people guessing their relationship. In the revealed film’s photographs, Sammo once again showed off his heroic self. It is said that this film had been arranged to be screened in Mainland China cinemas this year.
The Bodyguard narrates a retired army general (Sammo) lost his grand daughter as he was suffering from amnesia, regretted and return to his Northeast China home and have the companionship of his neighbour little girl, but the little girl’s father (Andy) got involved with Russian triads. Sammo wanted to save the little girl and got himself involved too, it is also to get back his soldier pride and made up for his mistake as a grandfather.
In the revealed photographs of the film, it showed off action elements, one of the photos showed Sammo standing in a room with bodies all around, it seems that he maintained his hard man characteristic. It is said that due to the special duties of secret agents, during missions there would be close body fighting, Sammo did some special studies in order to present a fighting scene different from previous fighting scenes.
Andy once again took up the challenge to take up the role of a “distressed father”, his complicated look at Sammo made one hard to understand what grudge between them. This time round, Andy jumped out of his hero image on silver screen as he revealed that he always got beaten up in the film.
Two best actors took up dual roles, Andy not only made a special appearance in the film and also took up the role of executive producer after Firestorm. Other than breakthrough in action scenes, Sammo also studied the script as he wanted to tell a wholesome warmth story. Other than special appearance of Andy, other casts includes Zhu Yuchen, Li Qinqin, Feng Jiayi, Chen Pei-yan, other cameos includes Hu Jun, Feng Shaofeng, Eddie Peng, Song Jia, Tsui Hark, Karl Maka, Yuen Biao, Yuen Qiu, Yuen Wah, Yuen Ting and Yuen Bao. It is said that the film will be expected to screened in Mainland China cinemas this year.
