EXO sees Andy as their target

Mnet Asian Music Awards 2014 was successfully held at Hong Kong’s AsiaWorld–Expo on 3 December 2014. Boyband EXO was the biggest winner of the night as they won Album of the Year, Best Male Group, Best Asian Artist and Best Asian Style snatching all the limelight. Despite their high popularity, they encountered allegations because when group leader Suho used one hand to receive and did not looked in the direction when receiving the award from special prize presenter Andy Lau, they were alleged to be disrespectful. However some netizens felt that Suho collecting the award with his right hand and raising his left elbow was the way of respecting the elder when collecting something from the elder, thus it does not considered as not courtesy.

During the celebration organized by Media Asia boss Peter Lam, EXO expressed that they were delighted to win so many awards, but most delighted to receive the award from Andy as they see him as a life model, never expected to receive the award from him, thus they were so excited till they forget to thank him. Actually EXO’s members Lay and Chen knew that Andy was at the awards thus they asked their manager to make arrangements for them to go to the rest room in the backstage to take a photograph with Andy.

When Suho was back in Seoul, he immediately tried to resolve the allegation by expressing: “We can feel the love and trust for EXO at the moment of receiving the award, we feel that we are together…. thanks for everybody’s blessing and Andy Lau for presenting the award to us, it added more honor to the moment.”

As Alan Tam, Andy and Eason Chan was invited as prize presenters, Andy and Alan took the initiative to go to Eason’s room to greet him and stayed to chit chat. Eason quipped that Korean and Hong Kong culture is different as young Korean singers will go and find senior singers, whereas Hong Kong singers are the opposite whereas the senior went to look for younger singers to chit chat. All of them burst into laughter at this joke.
