Hong Kong’s box office taking during the Christmas holidays was revealed, the one and only Hong Kong film on the chart – Firestorm occupied the number one spot, within the three days holiday it managed to collect more than HK$7 million (HK$7,017,248), accumulating more than HK$17 million (HK$17,375,250) after one weekend of screening.
When compared to last year’s number one film – The Hobbit:An Unexpected Journey managed to collect only HK$6.6 million, meaning Firestorm fared better and upping the status of Hong Kong films.
This year’s Christmas number 2 film is Hollywood film – Frozen, it managed to collect HK$4,727,782 during the 3-days holiday, accumulating HK$10,642,207 after one weekend of screening. At number 3 is Hollywood film – The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug, it collected HK$4,434,165 during the 3-days holiday, accumulating HK$25,009,487 after two weekend of screening.
