Andy not nominated in 50th Golden Horse Film Awards

After Golden Horse Film Awards chairman Hou Hsiao-Hsien announced the nomination list for the 50th Golden Horse Film Awards, fans were amazed that last year’s judge panel chairman Andy Lau’s most open acting in Blind Detective was not nominated.

In Blind Detective, it can be considered as Andy’s most unkempt and without any image performance as he drank and vomit on the floor, delight to eat from huge restaurants to roadside hawkers, fans felt that it’s his best performance, especially Sammi Cheng tipped by Andy and successfully got nominated, Andy was neglected.

This year’s Best Actor nominees are strong in their own rights, Andy lost out to Hong Kong’s “3 power horses” in Tony Leung Chiu Wai (The Grand Master), Nick Cheung Ka Fai (Unbeatable) and Tony Leung Ka Fai (Cold War), the other nominees being Wang Yu (Soul) and Lee Kang-sheng (Stray Dogs).

Johnnie To was nominated for Best Picture and Best Director for Drug War, naturally Blind Detective was neglected.
