Andy had mini-concert for Japanese fans

Andy’s fan gathering in Japan become mini-concert

Andy Lau insisted on sharing his joy and sadness in his Andy World Club forum. In the early of August, Andy had a gathering with Japanese fans, he had not been in Japan for any gathering for 3 years and he exclaimed that he had worries of Japanese fans forgetting him, luckily their love for him remained the same. He initially scheduled to sing 3 songs but he encore for 7 times as it became a mini concert. Andy used it as a warm-up for his year-end concert, he had been busy shooting recently thus this allowed him to pick up the feeling of interacting with his fans.

Gallants surpass target

Recently Andy posted a new post on the celebration of his invested film Gallants, he said that the film had surpass his target and it was an encouragement to the the cast and production team. He had an agreement with Bruce Leung and Teddy Robin, they do not want to retire and hope that the creators could be more daring and film company bosses should allow creators to be more daring in appropriate time.

Andy, Sammi Cheng and fellow East Asia singers duet ‘Zai shui Yue Fei Yang’

‘Zai Shui Yue Fei Yang’ which is a duet of East Asia singers will premiere in Mainland China next week, the East Asia singers includes Sammi Cheng, Andy Lau, Richie Ren, Miriam Yueng, Andy Hui, Denise Ho, Ivana Wong, Janice, Shawn Yue, Aarif Lee , FAMA and a mysterious Mainland China’s singer.

It is understand from the record company that the song will be the theme song for “Fly East Asia” concert in the closing ceremony of Hong Kong week of Shanghai Expo, meanwhile this song is also East Asia’s first theme song. Andy expressed: “I’m so excited, because the feeling is like every member of the family will play a part in this song!”

Angela Chang wish to invite Andy as her concert’s special performing guest

Taiwanese singer Angela Chang whom was in Hong Kong for promotion earlier expressed that she hope to invite Andy Lau, Aaron Kwok, Eason Chan and other superstars in the music industry to be her concert’s special performing guest, she said: “I had yet collaborated with many Hong Kong artistes, I only met them during the award presentation ceremonies, thus hope I would have the chance to create new sparks when collaborating with them on stage. Andy is a classic figure in showbiz, his TV dramas and singing had leave deep impression, if to get the chance to sing and dance with him on stage, it would feel like in a movie.”

Andy will be attending 67th Venice International Film Festival

Carina Lau who is Empress Wu in Detective Dee and the Mystery of the Phantom Flame, although it was nominated for competition and premiere on 5 September in 67th Venice International Film Festival. During a recent fashion activity, Carina expressed that she would be going to the festival, however in the recent announced attendance list, only the names of Tsui Hark, Andy Lau, Li Bingbing and Deng Chao were listed.

Andy and Jane Zhang duet Mandarin version of World Expo 2010 theme song

On the opening of the World Expo 2010 Shanghai China, audience got to hear the theme song A—LA—NONG: Better City Better Life which is a collaboration between Mainland China’s well know Chinese contemporary classical composer Tan Dun and Quincy Delight Jones II, the Mandarin version of the song was unveiled earlier, it is a duet between Andy Lau and Jane Zhang. They were picked based on their international charisma and influential in the music industry.

Jane whom collaborate with Kitaro in the Grammy Awards earlier, later she would collaborate with Jacky Cheung for the Mandarin theme song of the World Cup, she is representing as a Mainland China singer on the World Expo 2010 stage.

It is said that A—LA—NONG: Better City Better Life has the newly created water rock element, after recording the song, Jane exclaimed that Tan Dun as “creative”, “This song is the combination of Oriental and Western element, this is a first creation of a musician, the water element is also full of imagination, Tan Dun is too creative!”

Having won many awards in many international music award ceremonies, he exclaimed that his greatest dream is to make music to the level of “1+1=1″, that’s nature and human getting along well, heaven and human into one. In the song, A—LA—NONG: Better City Better Life, Tan Dun combined the sound of human being and water together, combining the Western and Oriental culture elements. Tan Dun introduces in his Shanghai studio that the song made use of the natural sound of hitting on water, with beat of water and Chinese orchestra instruments to bring out a natural green idea. The sound of water brings out the energy of African dance music, adding Namibia water element, this music displayed the open and understanding culture attitude. In water, people see the world’s hope, from water we can bring all countries, all races and cultures together. In the lyrics, the world A-LA-NONG kept repeating, it’s a word from the sea that many familiarize. The word is a traditional full-stop in culture, it represent the traditional and future of Mainland China.

The song which was sang by Jane Zhang and Andy Lau whom are singers of different style which could represent China’s charisma and bring out the different idea of local and international singers.

Andy encourage “daughters” BY2 to continue work hard

Singapore’s girl group BY2 was once alleged to be Andy Lau’s alleged daughters, Andy finally got to meet with BY2 in TVB’s Jade Solid Gold (JSG) recording two nights ago, other than taking photographs together, Andy also sing good praise of them.

With regards to the recent “Liu De Hua vs. Liu De Hua” incident, Andy’s company released a notice that they are redrawing any copyright injunction request.

It was alleged last year that BY2 were the alleged daughters of Andy, when Andy attended the recording for JSG recording, “father and daughters” finally appeared on the same stage. When asked about the allegations, Andy not only took photographs with BY2, he said: “I finally got to meet them today, I feel strange about the allegation, but the problem does not lies with them, the newspaper made a mistake, they also do not know why there would be such reports, how old are them? (18 years-old) Hope they could continue to work hard.”

Andy was recently awarded World Outstanding Chinese and University of New Brunswick Canada Honorary Degree, Andy is very delighted, actually he know the news much earlier but he did not dare to reveal, it a pity that he had work on the World Outstanding Chinese presentation thus unable to receive the award in person, but the award had been delivered to him.

When asked if the award would add pressure on him, Andy replied: “They gave me the award because of my past performance, hope that I can maintain what I did in my career and society, hope that I can spend more time on charity works for the disabled.”

With regards to reports that he was initially given a villain role in Shaolin but he does not want to be a villain and he went on to shave his head in order to force the director to change his role. Andy expressed that he also read the report and wanted to explain but nobody would believe him, thus he would not be giving any answers, if there is any questions, the media can ask boss and director Benny Chan.

When asked if it’s really the case when he first receive the script, Andy said: “My character is always like that, a villain convert, from the first day of shooting, I did ask Benny Chan if I can excuse from shaving my head, because I have another upcoming film ‘Tou Ting Nv Ren Xin’, but the director told me that my character became a monk is a plan, thus I asked him to finish the script to show me. I do not know why such reports came out.”

BY2 expressed that they first saw Andy at the World Expo 2010 opening but this is the first time meeting him face-to-face, they feel that Andy is very friendly, because he greeted everybody when he arrived, hope that they could collaborate with him. When asked if they feel embarrasses in meeting Andy after the allegation, they said: “We are embarrassed in the past, he should have forget about it, we are not close to him, thus when we saw our photographs being said to be his alleged daughters, we were afraid thus we were nervous to meet him today because he’s a heavenly king, (Will you address Andy as father?) It’s strange, we would not, we thought of it, our father’s surname is Bai and he’s 10 years old than Andy.”

With regards to Andy’s Mainland China company wanted to sue a 30-years branding Liu De Hua roast duck restaurant in Sichuan Chongzhou, Andy expressed that he had expressed in his website, he is not sure of this Liu De Hua family incident in Sichuan, thus he does not want to talk about it.

However, Andy released a notice through his Focus Group to management company in Mainland China (Topman Global Limited) that the Trademark Office State Administration for Industry and Commerce People’s Republic of China had made an investigation and decided that it would redraw its injunction, request, Topman Global Limited explained that it is just preventing any counterfeit situation and not stopping anybody to use their own name as branding.

Andy transform to Peking Opera actor for music video

Andy Lau was invited by the Macao government to record Ode to Macao (literally translated as Song of Macao from Chinese) to celebrate the 10th Anniversary of the Macao SAR Government.

Andy specially transformed himself into a Peking Opera character for the shooting of the song’s music video, it took hours for Andy to put on the makeup, wearing the 20 pounds costume, it doesn’t feel good as the ‘tie ren’ (superman) complained: “It took 10 years effort off-stage and just one minute on the stage.” He show his respect to all Perking Opera masters.

The music of Ode to Macao is composed local Keith Chan Fai Young and lyrics written by Preston Lee Anxiu, Andy had Hou Kong’s attractions Ruínas da Antiga Catedral de São Paulo, Templo de A-Má and the White Lotus that represent Macao into the song.

Always serious at work, Andy put on Peking Opera makeup for a short opera, although looking great in front of the camera, but it’s tough for him, because he need to wear a cotton-padded jacket before wearing several costumes over it, it felt like using thick ropes to tie the four flags onto his body, the costume and head gear weight a total of more than 20 pounds.

When he made a movement, due to the heavy costume, he lost his footings and took a few steps back but he did not say anything as he continue to do several difficult poses with the sword.

He was drenched in sweat, other than air-conditioner and electric fan, crew members also need to fan him to cool him down. When Andy remove the flags behind his back, he then sighed: “It took 10 years effort off-stage and just one minute on the stage. I really respect the Peking Opera actors.”

It’s completely different before and after makeup for Andy, to prevent him unrecognizable, a mischievous Andy introduce himself as Andy Lau to the crew members. With regards to him doing this makeup for his music video in future, Andy expressed that from the past till now, many celebration used Peking Opera as a presentation, to him this is a new experience.

Ode to Macao will premiere today, the music video will also be broadcast in Mainland China and Hong Kong TV station from 24 November 2009.

Andy sang another patriotic song after 12 years

For the Hong Kong handover to China in 1997, Andy Lau wrote and sang ‘Zhong Guo Ren’ which became a new generation of patriotic songs. In the past 10 years Andy had visited many areas in China and experience the development and improvement of the country. After the popularity of ‘Zhong Guo Ren’ which urge Andy to sing another patriotic song. As this year is the 60th anniversary of the Republic of China, Andy once again wrote ‘Mu Qing’ as a present to his motherland, it narrates that the country is like a mother to the people, without mother the children would not be able to nurture.

‘Mu Qing’ is wrote by Andy, music by Ronald Ng, Li Anxiu and Chen Dejian produced. Copyright belongs to East Asia Music and Focus Music, JISHEN Reserverd Cultural dissemination Ltd for the promotion and online distribution. When compared with ‘Zhong Guo Ren’, the song’s style is not so strong as it is soft and mild flavor, it’s like a mother nurturing and protecting the children.

For the shooting of the music video, Andy specially invited CCTV’s director Yang Dong Sheng to director the music video. When director Yang hear the song for the first time, he said: “This song is very easy to sing along, a lot of feel and images.” The director then instructed that Andy must wear samfoo and long gown for the music video. Director Yang said: “Andy looked very handsome in these two type of costume, it also fit the atmosphere.” Because of this, the crew member specially went to Hong Kong to tailor made a set of costume for Andy. When asked if he had many sets of these costume as directors always made request to him to wear them, Andy said: “I can’t remember how many sets of these costumes I owned, during shooting of a film, they are provided by the crew member, whereas I had several sets of costumes when comes to shooting music video, commercials and concerts, every set is a bit different.” When asked if he would hold an exhibition of the costume, he quipped: “I don’t know, never thought of it.”

When talking about the background of the music video, director Yang said: “For ‘Zhong Guo Ren’, the Great Wall is used as the shooting location, this time we would use the Yellow River and Changjiang.”

Upon hearing, everybody thought that they would be going to the actual location for location shooting, director Yang then quipped: “We can’t make it in time, but we can use them at the set.” Indeed on the day of shooting, there were patches of sand and the wall was screened with videos of Yellow River and Changjiang.

The director even arranged 10 male and female extra actors to do a dragon dance behind Andy. When the director shouted cut, these actors immediately rushed towards Andy. When Andy asked them if their hands were tired, they appeared shy and excited and told Andy: “Mr. Lau, we like you a lot, when told that we would be shooting a music video with you, we were so happy that we could not sleep, can we take a photograph with you?” Andy agreed to their request.

In another studio, a Chinese style study room was set up, Andy shot the scene with a book.

Andy did not rest after shooting the music video as when he returned to the hotel, he immediately wrote the words “Mu Qing’ in calligraphy which will be used in related products of the single.

The song is already been broadcast in radio stations throughout the country, the music video is also being broadcasted CCTV and other major TV stations, Internet and other medias.

Andy wrote ‘Mu Qing’ for National Day

Andy Lau wrote ‘Zhong Guo Ren’ 12 years ago for the Hong Kong handover to China, this year is the 60th anniversary of People’s Republic of China, once again Andy wrote a song ‘Mu Qing’ as the present to Motherland, narrating that the country is like the mother to everybody.

The lyrics of the song is written by Andy and composed by Ronald Ng, it more grand when compared to ‘Zhong Guo Ren’. The music started off with a little girl’s voice, which brings out the deep Chinese culture, the rivers and jiangs hugs and 13 billion people’s hope and wishes.

Earlier he went to Beijing to shoot the music video, in it he wore a samfoo and white long gown for the shooting. Andy specially invited CCTV’s director Yang Dong Sheng to director the music video. When talked about the requirement of wearing a samfoo and white long gown, Andy expressed that he had forgotten how many similar outfits he had and every outfit looked a bit different. The director expressed that he would want to use Changjiang and Yellow River as background, the shooting crew thought that they would be going location shooting but the director only wanted to create the scene.

When Andy entered the studio, he saw sands of different heights, the wall was screening videos of the Changjiang and Yellow River as if the wave is rushing towards him, there were also 10 male and female temporary actors performing dragon dance behind him. During the positing, all actors rushed towards Andy and hugged him before telling him: “Mr. Lau, all of us loved you.” Andy then agreed to everybody’s request to take a group photograph.

There was another scene that Andy shot in the study room, he was so excited that he went back to the hotel and wrote the words ‘Mu Qing’ in calligraphy as it would be used on the sleeve for this single.

Andy’s latest single 《母亲》

Hong Kong heavenly king Andy Lau had been the media’s attention due to his marriage. Recently he released his latest single ‘Mu Qing’ (Mother) on the Internet, surely it would become the most popular hit song in 2009 National Day.

This song is full of Chinese flavor, a bit similar to Chinese melody and National musicians song, believed it will also become a favorite as mobile phone ringtone.

Andy had completed his song for the 16th Asian Games 2010

Andy Lau who is well known in showbiz for his professionalism and hardworking attitude had already composed a song and passed to the 16th Asian Games 2010 selection of lyrics committee. The committee’s deputy secretary Fang Xiaocong revealed that he will be setting off to Hong Kong next month to listen to Andy’s new song and give his suggestions. He said: “Andy could not make it for the 2nd Asian Games Song Competition but there’s still a 3rd Asian Games Song Competition.”

The reporter understand that for the song that Andy created for the Asian Games, he had already completed writing the lyrics, music and recorded the song. When the committee received this Mandarin song, it was found out that some parts had been lacking, thus the committee decided to fly to Hong Kong next month to communicate with Andy’s production team in hope to make changes the song into a better song before being released. This resulted Andy to miss the 2nd Asian Games Song Competition, but it does not matter as saving the best for last, good song need to be nurture, in order to listen to the song, the fans would have to be patient.
